The Tourism and Sports Ministry plans to waive visa fees for visitors of more countries to boost tourism.
Minister Chumpol Silpa-archa said the government expected revenue from inbound tourismwould reach two trillion baht by 2015, with 30 million tourist arrivals.
He said details of the visa fee exemption will be disclosed after the ministry delivers its policy statement to parliament on Tuesday.
Anake Srishevachart, president of the Thai-Japan Tourism Association,said the government should waive visa fees for Chinese and Taiwanese tourists.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has projected that Chinese tourist arrivals to Thailand will reach 1.5 million this year, up from 1 million last year.
