Low savings rate drives Residential Investments

Low interest rates on bank deposit savings accounts are driving investment demand in the residential market, where investors are seeking annual yields as well as capital appreciation.

Baht expected to strengthen further

The baht, which last week spiked up above Bt30 per dollar for the first time since January, will continue to appreciate because of expected higher exports and more foreign direct investment, boosted by the natural disasters in Japan, according to HSBC Global Research.

Radioactive contamination has been detected in udo - a type of Japanese vegetable -brought into Thailand by Japanese passengers. Thais are advised not to eat it, regardless of the source, the Food and Drugs Administration warned Thursday.
