Korn sees employment returning to normal

Unemployment in Thailand is likely to soon return to normal low levels, due to an economy recovery triggered by government spending, says Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij. The rise in unemployment early this year resulted mainly from company layoffs as orders plunged, he said. The number of unemployed is estimated to have touched 1 million early this year but has since eased to 440,000 – close to Thailand’s normal level of about 350,000.
