Thai Union Group joined The Royal Thai Government’s disaster relief campaign to help the victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan by presenting 200,000 cans of tuna products to Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva during a ceremony.
Thiraphong Chansiri, President of Thai Union Frozen Products (TUF), conveyed his condolences and expressed his sympathy for Japanese citizens who became victims of the shocking earthquake and tsunami last week. Through the years in the seafood business, the group has forged a number of close ties and alliances with leading Japanese companies and has been very grateful for their unwavering support and full cooperation that helped make the group a success. Upon its Japanese counterparts facing one of their toughest challenges of their lifetime and needing considerable help, the company would like to show its sincere sympathy and support for the victims in form of some concrete actions. The firm is therefore committed to setting up ad hoc lines to produce 200,000 cans of tuna worth Bt 7 million to dispatch them to disaster zones as a donation and relief drive for those earthquake and Tsunami victims in Japan.
Currently, the firm’s emergency aid efforts are being enthusiastically coordinated and undertaken by the group’s subsidiaries: Thai Union Frozen Products PCL., Thai Union Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Thai Union Graphic Co., Ltd.
